Third Time's the Charm!

Lately, here in the Walden Writing Center, we've been promoting the idea that The Third Time's the Charm when it comes to completing Paper Review Appointments with one of our trained writing center Instructors. In our experience and in our research, we have found that students who receive multiple Paper Review Appointments display characteristics that lead to academic success.

Click this link if you'd like to read more about the research we consulted and what types of habits of mind our most successful writers display.

These repeat students are successful because they are often willing to try different strategies for each paper review appointment they conduct. By letting their Writing Instructor guide them, they can try out a number of different strategies depending on what will help them the most.

One of the strategies we ask our repeat students to try out is goal setting before and after the appointment. We've found that students who set writing goals for themselves, with the help of their Writing Instructor, are highly motivated to complete those goals and make new goals to continually improve their writing.

So, even though there's no magic wand to wave over your latest paper to make it better, multiple Paper Review Appointments can help! Become a repeat student today!
